Manaslu via Rupinala Trek

Around Manaslu was officially opened to tourist in 1991, but mountaineering expeditions have long had access to the area. In 1950 a party led by HW Tillman trekked from Thonje, Bimtang and colonel jimmy Roberts across the larkya la looking for an interesting mountain to climb. Manaslu 8156m attempted by Japanese expeditions every year from 1952 until 1956, and dominated climbing scene on Manaslu until 1971. When first ascent was made it thus become known as Japanese mountain. And much information about area was available only in Japanese. A few trekker including the peripatetic Hugh swift, manage to obtain trekking permit for the region. Otherwise this trek has always been the domino of the mountaineering expedition. The Trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating. The inhabitant of the upper Budhigandaki a region known as Nupri are direct descendant of Tibetan immigrant who settled here in the early 1600s. In upper Nupri the speech, dress, Custom is almost exclusively Tibetan. The mountain view of Nupri is sensational, and the larkya la is one of the most dramatic pass a crossing in the Himalaya. Still many places are unknowing as Rupinala pass and Mu valley, Sarang monastery, which are most beautiful and fascinating.
